My lucky day I had this up without watermark earlier and when I tried to edit , I removed the post. Thank you to all of those that commented before. Some of the other guys in th hide at the same time as me also posted on one of the KNP pages , go have a look) went to the Kruger National Park with my wife yesterday. that involves an early morning start st 02h30 a 4 hour drive to get into the park as early as possible as the gates open, a full day game viewing and riving and sitting in hides and then a 4 hour drive back home, as we could only do a day trip due other circumstances. Contrary to what you may think when viewing all the pictures taken on a SA safari or what you may see in the tourism ads, seeing animals in the KNP can be hard work and depends on a lot of luck. Ones access is limited to public roads, unlike that of safari operators on concessions and private land that can use bush tracks and radio comms and mostly know where their animals have their territories. So, seeing the big five in a single day or even getting great photo opportunities in the limited hours of great light can be very much a hit and miss in nature at the best of times and iwth restrictions( very necessary restriction to protect what we have left). We travelled from the Numbi gate to Skukuza and we saw elephant, several rhino, Impala, Klipspringer, Duiker, Kudu ,Zebra, Hippos even though they were not really presenting for. We then went to spend the largest part of our day at the Lake Panic bird hide. There was very limited bird action but I was hoping to see some animals coming to drink on the opposite side. near midday I saw a leopard passing through the bushes on the far side , which was great, but she never showed herself for a picture. So we sat there though the harsh light midday sun, hoping , hoping and lo and behold, about two hours later she showed up again with three cubs in tow and they all came down to drink. The light was tough, but I had just enough time to fit my 1.4x extender to the 600mm and take a few shots. They even posed for a group picture! . At least two of four other serious togs in the hide at in the hide went to see if they could spot them again after they left to drink and I later learnt that the leopard was seen carrying a bushbuck across a nearby road with the cubs following her. She had probably taken a bushbuck after they had water as we heard some snorts and bark of bushbuck in that area . Canon 7D ISO 250 600mm f 4 (antique version:-)) +1.4x Mkii f8 SS 1/500 Gimpro gimbal mount mounted on base and resting on shelf in hide. Highlight/ shadow corrections in LR
