My reply from Steve Stockman, U.S. Representative Dear Ms. Delk, Thank you for expressing your concern on this issue. It means a lot to me to know that constituents care about what is going on in the world. Genetically modified food is a complex issue. Millions of American citizens do not want their food being grown from genetically modified seeds. However, there are millions of Americans who cannot afford food and are not concerned about the origin of the food. Labeling has become an issue. Cross contamination is a scare also. Many nations will not import U.S. wheat if there is a chance that conventional wheat has been contaminated with GE wheat. All these issues with GMOs are very important to me. These issues are social and economic at the same time. I will work with my colleagues in the House of Representatives to ensure that the interest of the 36th District of Texas is best represented when it comes to GMO.
