My review on Chandralekha (Kannada film) Director Om Prakash - TopicsExpress

My review on Chandralekha (Kannada film) Director Om Prakash Rao tries his hand at a “horror comedy” for the first time. This director is known more for his action films. The plot is about 4 people who decide to commit suicide and they land up in a farm house far from Bangalore. Why do they want to die? Is the house haunted? This film is filled with comedy sequences even in the serious parts of the film which is a highlight. Hero – Chiranjeevi Sarja is ok and needs to bring in some variation in his expression and acting cos, I couldn’t really find any improvement/variation in his acting when compared to his previous horror/thriller “Whistle”. As per the director’s instruction he smokes many cigarettes throughout the film. Heroine – Sanvi, debuts in Kannada. She is very cute but in the acting department she has to improve a lot. Director/Cinematographer focuses more on her other parts of the body than her face ;) Comedians – Nagashekhar and Sadhu Kokila keep this film alive with their comic timing, mannerisms, dialogues (few double meaning). Cinematography and Music are average and not worth mentioning. First half is not that entertaining n the director takes too much time to reveal the 1st twist. 2nd half is engaging but unnecessary songs test the patience of the audience, especially the 1 song before climax is definitely a force-fit n could’ve been deleted. Watch “Chandralekha” if you don’t have any other option and the only plus point of this film is comedy; that is it. My rating : 2/5 .
