My trail has led me this way and that Forever following an endless track Through sunshine and warmth filled with bright light To darkness and cold under a moonless night Through forests of green where life filled the air To valleys empty and filled with despair Through the tops of mountains topped with white snow To caves so deep nothing would grow Through the lushest of jungles where no light hit the ground To the silent dry dessert where the sun drowned the sound Through the flattest of plains where no buffalo roam To the busiest of cities that so many call home Step after step for too long I trudged along Never quiet reaching where I did belong And as the years passed me in the blink of an eye I walked and I watched as my life passed me by Just when it seemed I could walk no more I finally found and opened that door The one that led me deep inside of me The one that allowed me to find my very own key No longer do I pass unfeeling and numb No longer do I worry where Im going, where Im from My time is now here I choose my own way This future is mine I mold it like clay So when you feel like youve done all that youll do Stop trudging along and try something new At this thing called life we only get a single shot Dont just survive, give it everything that youve got And when you find the door to your very own key Youll know the worth of your lifes long journey And when you finally realize just what you are Your eyes will be open youll shine like a star
