NASCAR and Regional Contractor, Sponsorship Marketing Nationwide Insurance Columbus, OH Desired Majors: Marketing, Communication, Sports Management, or Advertising JOB SUMMARY: This position provides an opportunity for practical application, work experience, and mentorship within Nationwide Insurance Sponsorship Marketing. The intern will work closely with the Sponsorship Team to learn about the business of sport from a corporate marketing perspective. The intern will assist with the evaluation, measurement, and activation of Nationwide’s sponsorship properties including: Columbus Blue Jackets, Ohio State University, Columbus Clippers, Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 and NASCAR. In addition, the intern will be exposed to creative and advertising efforts, as well as brand management initiatives. Primary responsibility is the day to day management of the NASCAR show car program and hospitality support for NASCAR races. Coordinates and manages activation efforts with other Marketing disciplines, sponsorship agencies, and advertising agencies. Assists with and coordinates project management with corporate advertising agencies. Coordinates on-site sponsorship activation to retain and grow customers, in line with Nationwide’s objectives to build brand, drive business, and build enthusiasm and pride. Additional responsibilities may include the development and execution of single event and season long promotions, evaluating sponsorship opportunities, and maintaining the Nationwide Sponsorship Measurement Model. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communication, Sport Management, Advertising, or related field preferred. Masters degree is desirable. EXPERIENCE: Related experience in a marketing, communication, or advertising setting. Experience in sport management, event management, event promotion and marketing, and project management desired. KNOWLEDGE: Experience and awareness of corporate marketing strategy and services, as well as knowledge of sponsorship and brand management. Insurance and/or financial services product knowledge a plus. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Perform to meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail while staying focused on Nationwide’s overall goals and objectives. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills. An understanding of desktop publishing; a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, and must present a positive professional image.
