NEWS BY RAJA ABDUL RAUF NESPAK Another feather in the cap of NESPAK Appointed sole consultant for 6,600 MW Power Park Earning another feather in its cap, NESPAK has been appointed as the sole consultant for the 6600 MW Pakistan Power Park Project. In the wake of ongoing energy crisis, the Government of Pakistan has decided to set up a mega energy park at Gadani, District Lasbela, Balochistan through public capital by creating a facility where mega power projects (10 power plants of 660 MW each) can be established on a fast-track basis. The Government founded Pakistan Power Park Management Company Ltd (PPPMCL), which would be responsible for land acquisition and development of infrastructure/common facilities to be provided to perspective Independent Power Projects (IPPs). PPPMCL appointed NESPAK as its sole Consultant for carrying out master plan of Power Park, detailed feasibility study, detailed design, tendering process and construction supervision of infrastructural facilities. The facilities include a jetty, breakwater and allied infrastructure, coal handling and conveying system, coal storage yards, ash disposal yards, intake and outfall channels, desalination plant and an access road and internal road network for the Park. Other amenities include water supply system including treatment storage facilities for the power plants, residential colonies and sewerage system for the Power Park including treatment facilities and disposal arrangement, storm water and effluent disposal system, fire-fighting arrangement and fire station, electrical power supply and distribution system, communication system, administrative block and security boundary wall. As per PC-I, the estimated project cost is US$ 520 million.
