********************************** NOBODY DIES OF EARTHQUAKES ********************************** ...but lots of people die from collapsed man-made structures weakened either by unchecked wear & tear; engineering malpractice; or even willful tolerance to create such sub-standard structures for the reason of saving money or to get someones money. They are caused by men... ...there are those who die of heart attack and other illnesses while quakes are in progress... but technically, death is still not caused by the earthquake. They are caused by men. His lifestyle and that he eats and uses are what kills him. I have yet to see a medical report that says CAUSE OF DEATH: EARTHQUAKE... ...stampedes are not caused by earthquakes either. They are caused by men. Men who fear... and in the process of saving himself, he causes harm - and in some cases, death to others... Fires happen too, MOST specially to people with little or no regard for safety. Where were you when intensity 7.2 struck??? Im glad we only experienced the earthquakes... Let us understand it better, so we can shed our fear of it. Unfortunately, according to the news, about 20 people faced death due to causes enumerated above... May they rest in peace... ************************************************ ATTENTION: USJR STUDENTS The teachers have been requested to come to school tomorrow to help our engineers thoroughly check the integrity of the school buildings. Should there be problems, we will be the first to die... and if we die, automatically, all periodical tests will be cancelled!! You will have new teachers next month! If everything goes well, your current teachers and I will be seeing you all on THURSDAY - OCT 17!!! Please wait for the official announcement as to which subjects will be administered first for the 2nd Periodical Examinations. Only RECESS and LUNCH are certain to happen on Thursday.
