NOT COUPON RELATED As many of you know our family is big on giving back to our community, passing the blessing on. I have been involved in outreach in some capacity since junior high. This is something that God placed on my heart at the age of 5 and I have NEVER stopped. I am blessed to have a husband who also sees the importance of being a servant and giving back. We have incorporated this into our everyday life. Our day starts in the word, praying, and asking God who he would have us bless each day. We always pray to have eyes and ears like his. So no matter what the need is, if God wants us to respond we ask that He would speak to our spirit so we are obedient. Yesterday, at the FREE laundry day we had quite a few deep conversations about giving back and what being a Christian means. As most of you know I am very open about my faith. I love the Lord with all my heart and I openly share MY faith. If someone does not believe I am okay with that too, because I will still love on them. It is not my job to judge someone, but rather God calls us to love others and that is what I choose to do. We have shirts that we wear to each event that says “Sharing Jesus one act of kindness at a time. . .pass the blessing on”. We get asked multiple times what Church we are from and we let them know, it is not a church, we are just being God’s servants. I had one lady ask me yesterday why churches don’t join forces to make a larger impact and why there is so much division in Christianity (Catholics, Baptist, nondenominational, etc). I really thought about this last night and here are my thoughts. All churches say their goal is to bring people to Christ for them to be saved. But after speaking to her, I heard what she was asking. She said most churches tell you that, but then they want you to attend THEIR church. What is the ultimate goal of the church? Is it truly to bring people to Christ or to bring people to THEIR church. A church doesn’t save a person, ONLY Christ can. I strongly believe that we are supposed to fellowship w/other believers so don’t think I am saying people should not attend church. More than anything else, I believe going to church is an important part of our walk with Christ. On the other hand, our salvation comes from Christ NOT from our attendance at church. I also believe many churches don’t partner with other churches because they don’t want to share the “spotlight”. It’s a numbers game. It shouldn’t be done in the name of the church, but rather in the name of Christ. God sees what is being done and will provide for the churches if they are doing God’s work. I believe that with all my heart. I truly believe all churches, organizations, etc, need to think about whether they are doing it to glorify God or glorify their church, their churches’ name, or the individual’s in charge of outreach. Once the focus is taken off Christ and put on the church or an individual, it will not be successful. God wants to be the center for all things we do. When we do our FREE laundry days or our FREE community dinners, there are no strings attached. We are a melting pot of different churches and denominations all working towards the same goal, planting seeds of faith and spreading unconditional love. It is a FREE gift just like the gift of Jesus. We don’t want to jam Christianity down anyone’s throat, rather we want them to see Christ in our actions. Christianity, in my opinion, is more about a relationship, than anything else. You can know the Bible inside and out, but do you know the Creator. The latter is the most important. I know some may not agree with me and that is okay, because I respect everyone’s opinion and will still love you, but I did feel I needed to share this. Thanks for always allowing me to share my heart with each and everyone of you. Love you guys!!!
