NOW IT CAN BE TOLD - hes deceased anyway: JOYRIDE is based on a true story - that of my friend, former realtor and one-time runner-up for Miss New York, S____ Jones, and the former bass player for Angel ... Yes, *that* Angel - the one that was like the anti-KISS, they wore all white, their name/ logo was spelled the same upside-down and right side up, the band from the 198O teen film Foxes [with Jodie Foster, Cherie Currie, Sally Kellerman, and Randy Quaid], an their lead singer was punky meadows, formerly of Cherry people, a band which featured former members of my fave 6Os pop band, Left Banke ... And yes, I used his real name [Micky]. Does it matter? He passed away five years ago, of liver cancer - which I didnt know until I Googled him very recently. Yes, he drank - a lot - so are we surprised it was his liver? Not really ... One reason I tell this is because I was informed theres a rumor going around that the song was about my former partner Shane. This couldnt be true - not only didnt Shane drive, he didnt drink, either. And it so happens I am working on a song about Shane. Its called Shane.
