Nepals euphoria of playing in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2014 has been dented initially with 2 consecutive defeats at the hands of Ireland and UAE in the official practice matches….Although the main tournament will start from March 16th, 2014 wherein Nepal will play their first game against arch-rivals Hong Kong, in such a mega event if any team starts with a win in its practice matches, it really boosts up the morale and confidence of the players….In contrast, other teams Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong have registered victories. In retrospection, Nepals first game against Ireland was a competitive one but the 2nd second game against UAE has exposed Nepals weaknesses and they need to work on those areas; especially the opening slot. Except for Skipper Paras Khadka and Gyanendra Malla, the batting looks vulnerable. In such a slam-bang cricket designed for batsmen, the batsmen need to adapt themselves and start scoring runs without depending upon others. The think-tank of Nepali side will have to do deep soul-searching in 2 days time and regain the winning magic if Nepali team has to prove to the world their appearance in maiden mega world cup event is not just a fluke…The sooner they understand the better will be it for the team at a time when a huge following of fans back at home have placed great hopes on the Nepali team.
