News = TOMORROWLAND TO POSSIBLY COME TO INDIA. Possibly one of the most widely-recognised dance music festival in the world, Tomorrowland, is most probably going to hit Indian shores. The Belgian festival, having completed a massive 10 year anniversary this year, is probably one of Europe’s biggest exports to the world of dance music. Having a massive line-up boasting of the industry’s biggest and most sought-after talents, has fans growing exponentially in attendance each year, since it’s inception. If the strong buzz in the local EDM circuit is to be believed, a major announcement is due early next month. An industry source recently spoke to the Deccan Chronicle saying, The live performances wing of Universal Music India will be bringing the feted Tomorrowland experience to India. India has emerged as a major EDM destination after Sunburn and it’s no surprise that there is international attention on the scene here. Universal is looking to expand its live music space in India and there can be nothing bigger than Tomorrowland to do it for them. It’ll be the biggest event in the country’s growing music calendar.” The Indian division of Universal Music is headed by former frontman of India’s heavy metal legends Brahma, Devraj Sanyal. Sanyal was part of a core team the conceptualised Sunburn for its parent company, Percept, and left the same to head Universal Music’s India. When asked about Universal’s involvement with the massive festival, he had this to say, We’re neither confirming, nor denying that we’re doing Tomorrowland… or other projects for that matter. We’re currently ironing out some details of a project we’re working on and will make an announcement when the time is right… probably in October. We’ve consolidated on our merchandise business as well as non-label ones, so intellectual property will be a major part of our focus now. Tomorrowland expanded to the United States last year, and recently announced their expansion to Brazil this year. We can only hope that India is next on the cards, but we’d have to wait to find out.
