Nikon has a new 300 mm. Whats in it for you? A sharp, much lighter weight package with little chromatic aberration (CA). Remember the lighthouse guy, Augusts Fresnel? Well, Nikon used PF, phase Fresnel, for this lens. They have used it in their microscopes. It cuts down CA, with a lighter glass shape and design. In English, when there is a strong light source in the frame, we get flare and color fringes. PF helps eliminate this in capture and with Nikon software Capture NX. How much lighter? One and a half pounds lighter than the prior 300 mm. ED, low dispersion glass. SWM fast quiet motor to autofocus with AF-S. PF. Phase Fresnel VR vibration reduction. Guess its time to take it out for birds and sports!!!
