Nine months ago was the first time we met each other and our lives has never been the same since. Jason pick Mary up for mass with a purple rose. She smiled wondering if this day was going to be a day set apart. We went to mass and celebrated the Epiphany where the wise men traveled far and long to find there king just as Jason and Mary have traveled long and far to find one another. After mass they went to breakfast. Jason was so excited to propose that he forgot his wallet in his other jacket. She had to pick up the tab. We got a good laugh out of it. After breakfast I took her to the Chapel to pray. We had the entire chapel to ourselves and kneeling in front of the tabernacle, next to the nativity set he gave her a card and three different colored roses in honor of the three gifts the wise men gave to Jesus. They are the three gifts that we give to each other 1. Yellow Rose: For Joy and 2. White: Purity and Innocence 3. Red: Love and Martyrdom After I gave her a rose we went and lit a candle and offered up a prayer to the Lord. Once all three candles were lit we sat and prayed a rosary. Once the rosary was completed we set out for St. Joseph’s Church. Joseph is Jasons confirmation name and he wanted him to be the model he strives to emulate. He then took her to the Mary statue with a bundle of roses. In 2003 Jason made a consecration to Our Lady where you give your heart to Our Lady to guard and to guide to your vocation. Mary was told that she had to go offer these roses to Our Lady and say thank you for protecting my heart for so many years and ask her to teach her how to hold it. After that we walked around the stations of the cross going through each station with the understanding that our next steps would require sacrifice and the carrying of each other’s crosses. After the stations Jason FINALLY got down on his LEFT knee and asked her to marry me. She squealed and jumped and stuck out her hand for the ring. She said YES.
