No other option except IMF loan: Ishaq Dar KARACHI: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said there was no option left except going into fresh loan program with IMF as economy is facing serious financial crisis. Dar was speaking to Customs officers while visiting the Custom House to review the revenue collection position and administrative changes besides taking input from the different collectorates on the elimination of statutory regulatory orders. He said that now the officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are free of any political pressure and they should work in a transparent manner. He said that the recent postings and transfers done in both Pakistan Customs Services and Inland Revenue Services were purely on considering professional skills and as per their need. Dar stressed on ‘3Es’ i.e. Economy, Energy and Enthusiasm because without these there would be difficulties for the country in future. The finance minister advised the customs officials to work with sincerity and honesty and take the revenue collection to that level where no government should again beg before any foreign lending agency. He said that the recent posting / transfers are also meant for eliminating the corruption because in the past complaints were received about the issue. He made it sure that any officer/official found involved in corruption would be dealt with stern action. Earlier, Tariq Bajwa, chairman, FBR presented detailed report on various issues, including valuation, Afghan Transit, revenue and SROs. On the occasion all the officers of South Region, Pakistan Customs were presented. They included Director General, Collectors, Directors and additional collectors, assistant collectors etc. The project director of WeBOC was also present on the occasion.
