No wonder I have such a problem with sleeping, I work on the computer or smartphone and then go to bed, wake up 2 hours later for a potty break and sometimes get back on the PC or smartphone. At age 70 I have no job to go to so have just gone with the flow. The attached article explains our natural circadian rhythm based on sunlight and points out disadvantages of the other types of light to which we are exposing ourselves. Heres an excerpt that probably repeats what I just said... This signaling of light and dark helps us to be alert in the morning and be able to fall asleep at the appropriate time at night. The power of light as an alerting agent is easily conceptualized when we think of the sun, but may be more difficult to appreciate when considering the light emitted from a tablet or smartphone.
