Norfolk cuts To all Norfolk Coalition Against the Cuts supporters Norfolk County Council plan another huge round of cuts. It will have a devastating impact on what remains of services to the community, such as libraries and care of the elderly. Government propaganda is geared to making people think that this economic crisis is due to benefit scroungers. This is a deliberate attempt to divide the working class. Norfolk Coalition Against the Cuts fully supports the idea that everyone who can work should have a decent job. But to achieve this we need a government that creates jobs. The rich owe £120 billion in unpaid taxes. That is enough to finance a massive programme of useful public works, creating a million skilled, well paid jobs to build houses and develop sustainable sources of energy. Norfolk Coalition Against the Cuts is also against benefits scroungers. Why doesnt the government start with the biggest benefits scroungers? When the bankers were bailed out, the government found £1.2 trillion for them. This means that for every £1 paid to bankers, just 0.1p is paid in other forms of benefit fraud. We say that instead of placidly going along with this governments austerity programme, Norfolk County Council should expose Camerons hypocrisy and refuse to implement the cuts the ConDems are imposing on local authorities. UNISON will be lobbying Norfolk County Council Cabinet from 9am on Monday 27/1/14, outside County Hall. The meeting starts at 10.30am. Many other groups fighting the cuts will be there to defend jobs, services and the living standards of working class people. Please do your best to support this important protest. Bring banners, placards and anything that will make a noise. Publicise this amongst your colleagues and in your community. Let people who dont have email know. Ed Bober Secretary, Norfolk Coalition Against the Cuts.
