November 17, 2014 MEDIA ADVISORY The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources is pleased to invite you to the launching of its new programs: the National Registration of Municipal Fishing Vessels and Gears (BoatR) and the Targeted Actions to Reduce Poverty and Generate Economic Transformation in the fishery sector (TARGET) on November 24, 2014, 9:00 in the morning, at the Oasis Hotel and Resort in Tanza, Cavite. BFAR’s TARGET program is designed, with reference to President Aquino’s social agenda, to promote inclusive growth and alleviate poverty in fishing communities where poverty incidence is highest. Equipped with the necessary metrics and registries as provided for by the national program for municipal fisherfolk registration (FishR), TARGET will deliver targeted actions or livelihood interventions to the identified fisherfolk population. BoatR, meanwhile, aims to fast-track and complete the nationwide registration of municipal fishing vessels as required by the RA 8550 otherwise known as the Philippine Fisheries Code. The event will be graced by Senator Cynthia Villar, DILG Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas, DSWD Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, BFAR national director Asis Perez and the local government officials. Officers and representatives from partner agencies including DBM, NAPC, PhilHealth, LMP, LCP, and NGOs will also be attending the event. A Press Conference will follow the program launching. To avoid the Monday traffic, the arranged transportation, which will take the media to the venue from BFAR’s Office in Quezon City, will leave at 6:00 in the morning. For more details about the event, you may get in touch with the Information and Public Relations Group (IPRG) at 454-5863/09435389321.
