November McConnell Area Historical Society Meeting Minutes Vice President Glenn Hockman called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. Secretary Robin Pardus read the Secretaries report and the group approved. Treasurer Robin Pardus read the Treasurers report and the group approved. Driveway: Tom Furray reported that we are still having it worked on. The side drive will stay gravel for now and in future maybe we can have it cemented again, for now is a parking space. Insurance: Robin told the group we will be having a insurance premium coming do soon. It was reported that drive is the last thing to finish to be so that we will have all request of us to do by the insurance company. LP Tank: Robin Pardus report the LP tank has been moved, she also read the agreement from the Grace Free Methodist Church. Tom and Robin are still wanting to mark with brighter Orange poles or paint cement blocks etc. Tom will be putting strips on top of cement blocks. We Thank the Grace Free Methodist church for allowing us to move LP tank. Spaghetti Supper: Roberta Hutting gave a report on the outcome of the supper. Group decided that we will have a Spaghetti supper again next fall. Cookie Walk: Our annual Cookie Walk/Bake Sale with Santa will be held on December 14th, 12- 4 p.m. We are asking you to bring your baked items to the museum starting at 11 am. We will start selling at noon. Santa will be at the museum from 2-4 p.m. Wagner sign: Robin met with Fieco in Freeport and they don’t have a plaque large enough to hold the tractor. They also suggested that it get clear coated. Tom Furray suggested that maybe Mr. Thruman might have piece of wood so Robin will contact him. Titanic program: The R.M.S. Titanic presentation will be held on November 25th at the United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Watch the story the R.M.S. Titanic unfold in pictures. Listen as local Titanic historian, Steve Pearce, tells the history and will have artifacts on display. There is no charge for attending this program, it is a free will offering program and any funds collected will be used towards driveway at the McConnell museum. Christmas Decorating: We will be decorating the museum on Dec 6th at 10 a.m. Hope to see all members there that day to help out. Social Secretary: Dolores Schultz sent Sympathy cards to Vicki Vanscoy and Janell Shippy family. Get Well cards to Barbara Anderson and Shawn Heid. Be sure to let Dolores know of anyone she should send card out to. Museum: Chairman’s Kelly and Helen Cross told of a very old sewing machine and copy of old deed (Glenns Home), and old photo donated by Glenn Hockman. Genealogy: Chairman Robin Pardus told the group about the Green County Genealogical Society lock in at the Monroe library. It will be held Friday November 8 from 6-10 p.m. She also talked on the deed that Glen Hockman donated, and from the deed she thinks the old photo might be of the Conaty family. In Mr. Conatys Will in the deed he gave so much land to his daughter Charlotte Henning hence the reason Charlotte Hennings addition was named. Museum Host: November--Kelly and Helen Cross, December---all members, (2014) January---Robin Pardus, February---Peggy Stamm, March---Kelly and Helen Cross, April--Tom and Sharon Furray, May--Robin. We have the months June, July, August, and October open for next year. Please sign up so each of us take a turn. 2014 Events: Easter Egg Hunt 4/19/2014, Strawberry Social 6/7/2014, Spaghetti Supper 10-25-2014, Cookie Walk 12/13/2014 Tom Furray motion to adjourn and Kelly Cross seconded.
