“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 118:1 God is good! Welcome to the month of April 2014. There are many things that might not have gone the way you might have hoped or prayed for, but in spite of it all, give God thanks for He is good. There may be many reasons to complain but instead of complaining and dwelling on the problems, look at the blessings and give God thanks. Count your blessings and not your troubles. Rejoice and give God thanks and refuse to complain. Think on the fact that many people who began this year are no longer on the land of the living. You are alive and that is more than enough for which to thank God. Thank God for life. Thank God for family and friends. Thank God for shelter and for food. Thank God for being a provider and supplying your every need. Thank God for your job. Thank God for bringing you out and bringing you through. Do not take the mercies and blessings of God for granted. Do not take people for granted. Tell and show your friends and loved ones that you love and appreciate them. Do not always assume that if you need to apologize, say you are sorry, or ask forgiveness that you have all the time in the world to do so. Do it today! Say the apology before the eulogy. Many people never ever know how much they are loved and appreciated, but it flows from the pages of tributes in funeral booklets where they can neither feel, nor read the expressions of love. “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7 Situations around you may be bad but God is good. People may have forsaken or betrayed you but God is good. You may be having challenges in your home or on your job but God is good. In the midst of whatever situation you are facing, give God thanks and praise. “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 As bad as your situation seems, it could have been worse and there are people going through much worse than you are going through. Thank God for being with you and strengthening you. Take a few minutes and reflect on what you have experienced from January 2014 to this day. If you do, you will realize that it is only God who have brought you this far. It is God who has protected you. It is God who has delivered you from the desires of your enemies. It is God who came through for you when men failed you. It is God who opened the door for you when men tried to shut it. It is God who made ways for you when there seem to be no way. It is because of God that you are alive today. Take time out daily to give God thanks and praise for indeed God is good! We pray that you be blessed by the verses of the following hymn: Yes, God is good; in earth and sky, From ocean depths and spreading wood, Ten thousand voices seem to cry, “God made us all, and God is good.” For all Thy gifts we bless Thee, Lord, But chiefly for our heavenly food; Thy pardoning grace, Thy quickening word, These prompt our song, that God is good.
