OK, so there seems to be much confusion regarding my nickname and how it came about. Also, people often times ask me about it, so below I will share the story of how I acquired it. First, Im going to go ahead and clear up a few misconceptions. I am not named after a Russian fighter jet, the Russian Mig. Upon my first introduction to a person, I will often times say Miggs like the Russian fighter jet. Again, I am not named after this aircraft, I simply say that so people will know how to pronounce the nickname. And I realize this in and of itself is ridiculous, since virtually nobody knows what the Russian Mig fighter jet even is. But, ridiculous is normal to me, its pretty much my go to line, and Ill obviously continue to use it anyway. At no point in childhood or otherwise did somebody say, you are a spitting image of the Russian Mig 29 fighter jet, were gonna call you Miggs or anything else along those lines. Additionally, I am not named for Multiple Miggs of The Silence of the Lambs fame. I dont know Jodie Foster personally and I have never been institutionalized with Hannibal Lecter. No doubt some of you think that I probably should be. For those of you still reading, here is the origin of my nickname Miggs. One fine day back in 4th grade at glorious West Reading Elementary Center, we were at gym class. This particular day, the activity that we were partaking in was basketball. The class was going through the layup lines, and I executed a flawless, textbook, form layup that brought the house down. Keep in mind that this was quite an accomplishment for a ten year old. Either that or we were a real unathletic lot. Upon seeing this, an exuberant classmate exploded and with unbridled enthusiasm exclaimed, Muh....muh muh....Miggedy Moyer!!! Others in attendance that day started to call me Miggedy Moyer which in turn became Miggedy. That, my friends, finally became the name which is still used to this day in reference to the person that you all know and love, Miggs !! The person who shouted out the exclamation that day that would turn into a legendary, time honored nickname, you ask? One David Braley. So, Mr. Braley, Im sure unbeknownst to you, you are responsible. A million thank yous for that one. I will also say that Mark McAllister was very instrumental in regards to the name catching on. There have been many tweaks and derivatives over the years, but there you finally have the origin of the original. Any questions or comments - hit me with your best shot, fire away. Macho Man Miggs
