Donating a pair of new or gently worn shoes serves two functions: providing badly needed footwear for people in developing nations and raising funds to aid U.S. military and veterans. Where: Illusion Cycles, illusionmotorcycles 14726 Goldenwest Street Westminster, CA 92683 When: Sunday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrity red carpet arrivals from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Why: Show Your Soul By Giving Up Your Soles” is a campaign to collect new and gently used shoes that will be donated to impoverished villages and communities in developing countries. For each pound of donated shoes collected, $0.40 will be contributed to the American Soldier Network, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, which assists and advocates for veterans of all eras and active duty military personnel throughout the country. Annie Nelson, founder of the American Soldier Network, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that provides assistance to active military and veterans of all eras, explained the importance of the shoe drive. Our troops serve all over the world and have seen poverty firsthand, Nelson said. What better way to not only raise funds to serve our veterans/military here at home, but to also honor their service by collecting used shoes for those in third world countries to show them love from America all the while raising much needed funds so we can continue outreach for our heroes here at home. Since late August, the American Soldier Network has been collecting shoes at several locations throughout California, as well as in New York, Texas and Illinois. Next year, the goal is to have designated shoe drop-off spots throughout most of the United States. American Soldier Network is a 501c3 nonprofit organization (Angels Within Inc. DBA American Soldier Network) bridging the disconnect between America and our American Heroes. The all volunteer run organization is dedicated to advocating for and assisting veterans of all eras 24/7 as well as our active duty military.
