OPERATION “GIVING LIBERIA BACK TO LIBERIANS 2013” Fellow - TopicsExpress

OPERATION “GIVING LIBERIA BACK TO LIBERIANS 2013” Fellow Liberians in and out of Liberia, may we appeal to your consciences to join the masses as they prepare for a mass action against the Government of Liberia to urgently address the current backward state of our country ranging from the sale of Liberia’s natural resources to the current wave of rampant corruption which is now a way of life in Liberia. It can be recalled that when the Campaigners for Change and the Coalition raised some 8 counts recommendations against the Liberian Government and maintained that the counts either be implemented before April 12, 2013 or the Government faced a mass action, several civil society organizations, the Traditional Council of Liberia, diplomatic eclipse, the press and several others including well meaning Liberians appealed to us to suspend the action. Interestingly, the Government of Liberia through the Vice President of Liberia asked for 2 months to implement the 8 counts recommendations. Fellow Liberians, the 2 months has passed and it is frustrating to note that the Government of Liberia has broken its promise by refusing to implement the recommendations. What is more interesting is that the Government of Liberia and those mediators all agreed that our claims were legitimate but it is frustrating to see the very Government showing no sign of sincerity and commitment in the full implementation of these recommendation. Those 8 counts recommendations include the following: • The immediate resignation of Mr. Robert Sirleaf (son of the President) as Board Chairman of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), Special Advisor to his mother (President Sirleaf), and Liberia’s representative to UNESCO. Interestingly, Madam Sirleaf condemns this same act just yesterday and he is not the only qualified Liberian to hold three positions at the same time. • The need for President Sirleaf to ensure that those previously accused of corruption in her government be sent to court and those currently working in her Government who are also charged of corruption be made to also resign and be given their days in court as was done in the cases of other corrupt officials like Hon. Edwin Snowe, Hon. Gyude Bryant, Hon. Samuel Wulu, Hon. Larry Bropleh, Hon. Albert Bropleh, Hon. Monia Sieh, and several others. Justice must be done to all and it should not be selective! • The need to REVISIT all those concession agreements that were bogusly signed which are not in the interest of the Liberian people and to also RESERVE those mineral resources that have not been contracted or negotiated for future generation. The Moore Stephens Reports buttressed our argument when it reported that out of 68 concessions that were signed in Liberia, only two of them were in line with the law while the rest were complete mess. • The need for President Sirleaf to dismiss all her family members from Government who are holding key positions. They include Hon. Fumbah Sirleaf-National Security Agency boss, Hon. Charles Sirleaf-Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, and Hon. Robert Sirleaf-Board Chairman of NOCAL. This is a complete act of nepotism; something President Sirleaf condemned other governments for just yesterday which led to their death. • The need to have a reform in the oil sector of Liberia; meaning NOCAL should not serve in dual capacities. NOCAL is the regulatory arm of the oil sector and at the same time negotiates contracts. We believe that this is the main reason why NOCAL is yet to account for the sum of $ 230,000US as was reported by LEITI. • The need for Mr. Robert Sirleaf, son of the President to explain to the Liberian people on how the 10.5Millioin dollars that was given to NOCAL thorough his office by Chevron-Liberia (an oil company in Liberia) was managed. • The immediate need for President Sirleaf to explain to the Liberian people why she has FAILED to make her quarterly report on the TRC implementation as enshrined in Article 10.48 of the very TRC act. • We want the Liberian Government to provide jobs for Liberian youths which will help address the issue of vulnerability that could put the security of our state at risk. Government of Liberia allotted 15Million dollars in the 2011/2012 fiscal budget for youth development and empowerment but excluded FLY and LINSU in the monitoring of the usage of this fund. Up to date, there has been no trickledown effect on the youth population when it comes to empowerment and development. We want to be emphatically cleared to President Sirleaf and her cronies that the patience of the oppressed people as well as the suffering masses cannot endure forever and the masses are ready to engage President Sirleaf in line with of our organic law and the law of morality. Government is for the people, by the people and of the people and because the masses have realized that THEIR “SAFETY AND HAPPINESS” are no longer guaranteed because Madam Sirleaf and her officials have reneged on their constitutional responsibility to implement the 8 counts recommendations, there is a need for a mass action against the Government of Liberia in line with Article 1 and 17 of the Liberian Constitution. ARTICLE 1 OF THE LIBERIAN CONSTITUTION STATES CLEARLY THAT “ALL POWERS ARE INHERENT IN THE PEOPLE. ALL FREE GOVERNMENTS ARE INSTITUTED BY THEIR AUTHORITY AND FOR THEIR BENEFIT AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER AND REFORM THE SAME WHEN THEIR SAFETY AND HAPPINESS SO REQUIRE. IN ORDER TO ENSURE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT WHICH RESPONDS TO THE WISHES OF THE GOVERNED, THE PEOPLE SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT AT SUCH PERIOD AND IN SUCH MANNER AS PROVIDED FOR UNDER THIS CONSTITUTION, TO CAUSE THEIR PUBLIC SERVANTS TO LEAVE OFFICE AND TO FILL VACANCIES BY REGULAR ELECTIONS AND “APPOINTMENTS”. Fellow Liberians in and out of Liberia, let us stand up and get prepared for this mass action against the Government of Liberia very soon. Liberia is now on sale. BRE came and succeeded. A Nigerian brought Western Cluster and succeeded in getting over 75Million dollars profit at the detriment of the poor people when he sold his shared to CesaGoar. All our resources have gone while few groups of people continue to squander Millions of dollars at the detriment of the poor. It is because we are not talking, that is why 68 concessions were signed bogusly in our very eyes without a trickledown effect on our people. The Kenyans just carried on similar mass action against their law makers when they demanded that their (lawmakers) salaries be reduced. They obeyed the mandate of the people who elected them and reduced their salaries quickly. We can do the same here in Liberia and we must stand up fellow up Liberians! Say no to nepotism, corruption and signing of bugus concessions! Wologisi is on its way to India and we must not allow this to happen again. We are dying slowly on a daily basis in our filthy hospitals because Government has refused to upgrade them. It is better to take a bullet from the government and die in seconds than to watch yourself living and dying in poverty after one year. Let’s give Liberia back to the masses and we must act now!!!!!!! CLARIFICATION: Fellow Liberians, there are rumors going around that the Campaigners for Change and the Coalition have fallen apart. That is a clear scare tactics that has now been employed by the Government of Liberia to weaken this new operation known as “Giving Liberia Back to Liberians 2013”. The Campaigners for Change and the Coalition have one COMMON OBJECTIVE (fighting against social injustice and mandating President Sirleaf to implement the 8 counts recommendations). We only operate with different principles. We are ONE and we will always pursue this mandate together but in different directions. Do not listen to them fellow Liberians because they are on record for that. They gave conflicting accounts when they told you that we took money to suspend the protest but it’s false and misleading. The Government has broken their promise and we remain determined and indomitable to hold President Sirleaf responsible constitutionally. The “Ellen” yesterday was strong, energetic, bold and firm when it comes to discipline. But the “Ellen” of today is weak in policy execution and that is why our government officials are doing their own thing. Let us ask the Government out fellow Liberians. It may take some days, weeks and months but we must act now. With God above our rights to prove, we’ll over all prevail! Get ready, be prepared and join the Campaigners for Change as we strive to save the lives of the voiceless people from the hands of the Pharaohs, detractors of peace and economic vampires that are depleting our state coffers. Let’s reclaim our independence fellow Liberians. MADAM SIRLEAF MUST RESIGN!! MADAM SIRLEAF MUST GO!! MADAM SIRLEAF MUST FACE TRAIL FOR SUPPORTING THE WAR AGINST OUR PEOPLE!! MADAM SIRLEAF IS A FINANCIAL DICTATOR. SHE HAS BOUGHT ALL OUR POLITICIANS AND IT’S TIME FOR THE YOUTHS TO SPEAK OUT AND REDEEM MAMA LIBERIA FOR THE NEXT GENERATION. As we begin the process here in Liberia, we also want you carry on similar action in America, England, Australia, Canada, Ghana, Europe, etc. It is good to die with dignity than to accept the sufferings of the masses with humility. We call on all former and current AFL soldiers and the police who have been abandoned and are paid peanuts money to see reason to join us. We are one people and do not allowed the elite to divide us. We fell for you because you provided security for Liberia before. To the AFL soldiers and the police (ERU, PSU), do not shoot us when the day comes because you will be killing your own brothers and sisters that will be on the streets advocating for you as well. We spoke on your behalf before and you were given your just benefits. Do not shoot us on that day because the innocent blood of the harmless masses will speak against you and you will not be in peace for the rest of your life. We know the Government will want to use force against the harmless masses that will be holding their placards very soon but we must be strong. Our action must be VERY PEACEFUL AND THOSE WHO WILL BE INVOLVED IN ACTS OF VIOLENCE WILL BE CONDEMNED AND CONSIDERED TRAITORS IN THE CAUSE. A mass action against any government must be peaceful and that is why we are calling on you to be very peaceful. We must be peaceful in order quickly execute this constitutional mandate against President Sirleaf and ask her out along with her cronies.
