Oak Grovers -- I know youve been waiting for your daily auction update, so here it is! Today Ill tell you all about the items weve received which are either SPORTS-related or READING-related...I figure everyone should be tempted by at least one thing here, right? From professional sports teams, we gotten (or have been promised) items from...Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Heath Miller of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Washington Caps, Washington Nationals, and the Washington Redskins...(Sorry, Mrs. R -- Da Bears rejected us this year...) Other national sports-related donations include: Charlotte Motor Speedway, Dicks Sporting Goods, Harlem Globetrotters, Jack LaLanne (yes, I know he is no longer with us, but hes so awesome, hes able to keep donating!), Polara Golf, Snowshoe Resort, Superfeet, Timberline Resort, USA Volleyball, Wheel of Fortune (it takes some athletic ability to spin that wheel!), and Wintergreen Resort. Our local businesses have done right by us yet again...Donations include: Aquatic Adventures, Cardinal Bikes, Cave Spring American Little League, Curves, Fame Cheer, Hidden Valley Country Club, Hidden Valley High School Sports Pass, Just Dance Roanoke, Lee Hi Bowling Lanes, River Rock Climbing Gym, Roanoke Athletic Club, South County Softball League, Skate Center, Super Kicks, The Yard, U Can Dance, and the Yoga Center. For those of you who prefer to do mental exercise (see, I knew I could make a connection between sports and reading!), we have received donations from the following authors/illustrators: Eric Carle, Jeff Kinney, John Grisham, Judy Schachner, Jerry Scott (Baby Blues/Zits), Mike Thaler, and Tom Batiuk (Funky Winkerbean).
