October has been the month of equipment maintenance and performance upgrades at Schissler Land Surveying. Now that snow is right around the corner, vehicle and equipment maintenance is being addressed. The snow tires are going on the truck and, for added safety, amber led flashers were added to supplement the roof light. With the ATV seeing heavy use on the ongoing 600 acre survey, it has been checked over and serviced. Even the surveying instrument, our new Leica TS06, has been tested and calibrated to ensure accurate measurements. The exciting news has more to do with our performance upgrades. A new Osprey backpack was purchased for backcountry projects. This enables us to carry the surveying instrument and other equipment in a safer manner and with more comfort. New Dutch Hill tripods have also been purchased. Their lighter weight and added stability compliment the backcountry gear. On the more technical side, the computers are undergoing operating system upgrades, the Carlson Data Collector and program has been upgraded and the computer CAD program has been upgraded to Carlson Survey 2014 (with embedded AutoCAD). More exciting changes are underway. Follow Facebook or our website, ADKSurveying, for their announcement in the next few months.
