Of all the things I had seen and heard over the last week, one - TopicsExpress

Of all the things I had seen and heard over the last week, one truth is consistent -- my sisters are in SO MUCH PAIN! Mothers of black men, mothers of black boys, mothers to be. Grandmothers, sisters, nieces, aunties. This anguish is real and does not to be validated by anyone or anything (i.e. the "justice" system) else. If I can tell you anything it would be, first, that I love you all. Second, you are not alone in this movement. Third, you are not alone in this feeling--your mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers, and those before them, stretching back to the 1600s, have known this feeling (it pains me to say). Lastly, and more importantly, WE have the power to change this, to EMPOWER our children, to STRENGTHEN, our families and communities. That is the work that is before us. Let us join hands and begin.
