It is with great joy and excitement that the USA/Canada Regional Nazarene Youth International (NYI) office and Nazarene Youth Conference (NYC) lead team announce Rend Collective will perform at NYC 2015: Thy Kingdom Come! Described as “genre-blurring artists” with an “endearingly raucous live show,” Rend Collective has quickly become a leading voice in worship. Originating in Northern Ireland, Rend Collective “developed organically, outside of the influence of the music industry and CCM [contemporary Christian music] culture.” Since releasing their first album in 2010, the band’s powerful, authentic, and creative music has quickly gained traction and the group regularly performs to sold-out crowds as they travel the United Kingdom and the United States. The band has toured with several prominent Christian artists, including Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Tenth Avenue North, the music video for their hit song “Build Your Kingdom Here” received a Dove nomination, and their third album, Campfire, reached number one on iTunes charts in the UK and US. Rend Collective’s music style is “resistant to categorization” and the band has “developed something of a reputation as tastemakers and pioneers within the worship music scene.” Click here to check out a sample of Rend Collective’s music. USA/Canada Regional NYI Coordinator Justin Pickard attended each field’s NYI event last spring, asking all students and sponsors in attendance to share names of the artists, bands, and speakers they wanted to see on stage at NYC 2015. The results of these polls revealed a marked preference among the region’s NYI members to hear Rend Collective in concert, clearly ranking as the top worship band requested. Listening to this suggestion and prayerfully considering the theme and purpose of NYC 2015, the NYC lead team began pursuing Rend Collective to lead a worshipful concert one evening. The team is thrilled to finally share the exciting news that Rend Collective has committed to NYC 2015 and eagerly anticipates the ways this group of talented and intentional musicians will enrich the exploration and celebration of the theme Thy Kingdom Come through song.
