Okay I have heres a long this has Georgia pissed off status. Tonight walking through the city, just down queen street mall when I walk past a homeless looking girl that was definitely around my age maybe a bit younger. As I walked past I noticed everyone else looked and her and walked past too, I guess everyone thought if they continued walking it would become someone elses problem. And it did, so I went up to her and she looked up at me with caution, with only her eyes popping up from her blanket, I said hey are you okay and she replies and says shes fine and smiles, then I ask if her parents knew where she was and she said nothing and then I asked if she was hungry and she replied and said no thanks and I told her to stay safe and stay warm and left. I again walked off and thought well of course shes going to be hungry, so I go grab her some food, came back and she shyly says hello again and so I handed her the mcdonalds I got for her, asked if she needed to call anyone and she said she was fine and happy. She smiled politely and said thank you for the food at least three times and told me her name was Grace. I dont understand how people can just walk past someone whos looking up at you desperately obviously screaming for help inside. For anyone that knows me Im really not one to rant on about social justice nor am I a person that spends hours each week volunteering for charity. But it doesnt take much of your precious time to go out of the way to help someone in need. Im actually so deeply upset that this is happening around us in this day and age and yet people choose to be so ignorant about it when its literally right in front of you. Not even going to apologise about the length of this post because we all need to reflect on some real issues like this that are staring us in the face. Be the change you want to see in the world.
