Okay.. So.. to all my Local Advocates!! That would mean.. Justice McDonnell, Possibly Pete Petrisko, Neal Johnson, Kevin Patterson, Christopher Danger Twenty-three, Haley Tilden Ritter, Amy Jean Page, Amy Ouzoonian and more... There is a meeting going on at the City Council Building on Wednesday to determine if the Circle K on the corner of 7th and Roosevelt should be allowed to dominate the Corner with a Mega Store.... My position on the issue is that Circle K already has 2 other stores in the Garfield Neighborhood.. (one on 11th St and Van Buren and 16th and Roosevelt) and we have another Circle K near the Post Office to serve the Evans Churchill Neighborhood... AND.. there are 3-struggleing privately owned stores within the Garfield Neighborhood.. (one at 12th St. and Mooreland.. one at 10th St. and Pierce and another at 14th Street and Filmore) who could use our support in regard to Local First thinking. SO...... WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS IF ANY OF YOU WILL (or) CAN TAKE THE TIME TO SHOW UP ON WEDNESDAY TO CAUSE A RUCKUS.. AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING.. Not so much in being a problem.. but in coming in support of keeping the Circle K on 7th from expanding and dominating the area.. and ultimately pushing the local store owners out... ???? LET ME KNOW! MORE INFORMATION: City Council Meeting Wednesday, Nov. 6 @ 3pm News: the City staff recommends to councilpersons is for DISAPPROVAL! City of Phoenix staff recommends disapproval of this application based on neighborhood protests. The neighborhood opposition indicates that the applicant has not shown that the public convenience requires and the best interest of the community will be substantially served by the issuance of this license. Staff also notes that the applicant must resolve any pending City of Phoenix building and zoning requirements, and be in compliance with the City of Phoenix Code and Ordinances prior to beginning operations. If denied, the applicant will not operate this business without a liquor license. This is new construction and there is no previous owner.
