Old Colony Historical Society, Museum & Library receives DeWert Challenge Coin: Seen in the glass case behind OCHS Dirctor Katie MacDonald and myself is the late hero, Hospitalman Richard DeWerts actual MOH which was given to the facility several years ago by his family. The museum is located in Taunton, Massachusetts DeWerts home town. Capt. Douglas Armstrong and a number of the officers and men, plank owners of USS DeWert including Command Master Chief Delta Leroy Hinson (USN Ret) visited Taunton, and the Old Colony Museum in 1983 when USS DeWert was commissioned at Bath, Maine. It was Command Master Chief Hinson who commissioned the Challenge Coins.
