On Karma: My abuser is in jail. Again. He is jailed for failing to pay court fees on a felony DUI, 3 or more charge. Cash bond is $50,000. He has yet to be sentenced for this charge, but he is looking at another prison term. He still has at least two other charges to face for hit and run. I remember one of our last conversations before my great escape. He was drunk (of course he was) and we were sitting at the dining room table, watching the same Kenny Chesney video for at least the 30th time in a row. (and no, Im not exaggerating) This particular song was one he assigned to an old girlfriend, a girlfriend he had hurt. He was thinking of her that night, and as we listened to this song, over and over and over, he relived the pain he put upon her to me. He told me the details, explained how he loved this women, how he just knew she was pregnant with his child when she left him. He told me then that he was terrified of karma. He told me how afraid he was that karma would find him after all the horrible things he did to this woman. And there I sat, wondering which song would be mine when I left him for the very same reasons. I cant help but wonder what song he is hearing from his jail cell.
