On Monday night Jan. 13, 2014 Jamey Abersol, Anthony Braxton, Richard Davis and Keith Jarrett were given National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Awards. I had the honor to be a part of this years ceremony and celebration playing for the Richard Davis presentation. It was quite an evening of wonderful insights and personal reflections of life and music. Another highlight of the evening for me was spending some joyous moments with the likes of Jimmy Heath, Randy Weston, Roy Haynes, Kenny Barron, Sheila Jordan and Muhal Richard Abrams. Id also like to thank Wynton Marsalis and all the folks at Jazz at Lincoln Center for hosting this amazing celebration that highlights the history, future and present day masters in jazz!
