On the eve of my and Joels 16th wedding anniversary, my girl has given me a sweet and memorable gift. She got all excited about waking up early to cook us breakfast, potentially involving a decorated cake or other delicacy (though I assured her that her special fried eggs and a toasted, buttered English muffin would do perfectly). She even set her alarm. This child used to throw fits on Mothers and Fathers Days because the attention was off her. Yes, I worried. Those of you who know us well know that the communication challenges we face are with us every day. We stumble along. So these moments when the clouds part and the brightness of my girls brave and loving heart shines through are pure gold. Best gift ever.
