US Open Monday Preview, Nadal, Federer Lead 4th Rd Action : • Fourth round action in the bottom half of the draw on Monday features five of the Top 10 seeds, led by former World No. 1s and the two winningest active Grand Slam singles champions, No. 2 Rafael Nadal and No. 7 Roger Federer. They are one match win away from meeting for the first time at the US OPEN in their storied rivalry. In addition, No. 4 seed David Ferrer, No. 8 Richard Gasquet and No. 10 Milos Raonic are on the order of play • In the first match on Arthur Ashe Stadium, Federer, the five-time US OPEN champion and 17-time major winner, brings a 10-0 career record against No. 19 seed Tommy Robredo, who is appearing in the 4R at the US OPEN for the eighth time (0-7 in 4R). Federer, 32, and Robredo, 31, are two of five players 30-over remaining in the 4R. Federer is appearing in the 4R here for the 13th year in a row and he’s trying to reach his 41st Grand Slam QF and tie Jimmy Connors for the most career Grand Slam QF appearances. • In the night session, Nadal brings his career-best 18-match winning streak on hard courts this season into his match against No. 22 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, who is back in 4R for the second year in a row here. Nadal, who has yet to lose serve in the tournament, holding all 37 games, has a 9-1 career head-to-head advantage over the German, including 5-0 on hard courts. Nadal, who won the 2010 US OPEN and is a 12-time major champion, leads the ATP World Tour this season with nine titles and a 56-3 match record (18-0 on hard). Kohlschreiber is trying to reach his second career major quarter-final (’12 Wimbledon). • In the last match on Arthur Ashe Stadium, World No. 1 Bob and Mike Bryan are in QF action against the British No. 12 seeds Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray. The Bryans are trying to become the first team since Aussies Ken McGregor and Frank Sedgman in 1951 to win a calendar Grand Slam. The Bryans have 32 straight matches since capturing the gold medal at the London Olympics last summer and the last four Grand Slam titles. The Bryans have won the most titles as a team (92), including an ATP World Tour-high 10 this season. • On Armstrong, No. 8 Richard Gasquet and No. 10 Milos Raonic meet for the second time (Raonic leads 1-0) and the winner will advance to the US OPEN quarter-finals for the first time. Gasquet is 1-15 lifetime in 4R Grand Slam matches (0-4 at US OPEN) and the 22-year-old Raonic is the youngest player remaining.
