Once More…Here We Are! (Notre Dame of Tacurong High School Boys and Girls Batch ’70 Grand Reunion/ September 7, 2013) By Apolinario Villalobos Not even the concrete fence, now gone Did its best to set us apart – restless souls, Girls in white blouse and pleated green skirts Boys in green-striped khaki pants and white shirts. Not even the admonish of nuns in white habit Or the sharp, piercing look of spectacled priests Made the restless young souls come together - Frolic in grassy fields, filling the air with laugher. Puppy love developed, here and there – everywhere In the hearts of these young boys and pretty girls… With dried petals, love letters were secretly sent Replies with kiss marks - sincere love was meant. Ah! if only those days could be pulled back now Yes, if only time can be lured to turn back its hands Then, nothing else in this world can make us happier We could not ask for more but for us to be together. Still alive, kicking and restless, all of us – beyond 50 Boys and girls then, pride of Notre Dame – Batch 70 More than four decades of life spent far from one another But still managed to trace back steps toward each other. Once more…here we are, smile etched on our lips Faces flushed with excitement, tingling with happiness So many questions fill the air, most drowned with laughter But whether we can be together again, nobody can answer… __________________________________________________________________ Coordinator : Ed Collado Email : [email protected] Numbers : 09199925235 (smart)/ 09167178082 (globe)/ 09328663548 (sun) Venue : Monte Vicenta Resort, Tacurong City Other information: Arrangements According to Ed Collado, assembly before 8:AM shall be at the back of the Catholic Church. For transport, attendees shall be accommodated in whatever available space in the cars and vans. The rest who may not be accommodated due to late arrival may take tricycles. Every one shall prepare Php200.00 for the entrance and videoke which is available for those who want to fill the air with their angelic voice. No contribution for the food. Everyone shall bring baon to ensure variety of food, however, please…bring extra servings to be shared. Everybody has the whole day to enjoy. I have received fillers from those coming from abroad that they prefer to bring native food – inihaw na isda, dried fish, native vegetable salad, paksiw, boiled banana, cassava. Lechon de leche (pig), however, is welcome, instead of lechon baka from the affluent classmates. Background on the Venue The Monte Vicenta Resort is the first resort opened in New Passi which lies at the foot of a low mountain range. One reason for its establishment could be the presence of a spring for which the barrio has been known. The barrio is populated mostly by migrants from Visayas. New Passi is a fast developing barrio of Tacurong. Travel by car from Tacurong City takes about 15 minutes. Aside from the regular tricycles that serve regular commuters to the barrio, others are available for contracted fare. Almost the whole area is covered with African palms which replaced rice and corn as local agricultural product. The way to New Passi traverses the barrios of Upper Katungal and Baras. Upon reaching a fork at the end of the road, one should take the left one, as the right leads to barrio Rajah Muda. In Baras, can be found the only bird sanctuary in the whole province of Sultan Kudarat. It is being administered by the owner himself, Mr. Rey Malana with full support from the city government of Tacurong. The banks of Kapingkong River that cuts through the area are lined with undulating bamboos. The Kapingkong River flows to the Rio Grande de Cotabato.
