One of my childhood memories was being allowed into the lens room - TopicsExpress

One of my childhood memories was being allowed into the lens room at South Stack lighthouse back in the early 60s. It was amazing that such a heavy lamp casing could be moved so easily. Apparently it floated on mercury. This was back in the days before it was automated. The old suspension bridge that connected the island to the mainland would actually move as you walked across it. Unfortunately I have misplaced the photos I took back then with my old trusty brownie camera, so Ill have to settle for one I took in 2009. Happy days!
