One of the things I liked best about having a houseful of kids, especially as they got older and had jobs and sports and could drive, was the way we would all head out in the morning to do our respective things, then all come back home to the same place to share our days. Sure, it was hectic and not everyone was at the table every night but I loved the bond of all of us coming to the same place at the end of the day. My mom loved having all her chicks in the nest and I did too. Of course, Steve and I have tremendous flexibility now; we can eat late or out or have Lucky Charms for dinner (WE never do but I succumb sometimes when Im alone for dinner). Im excited for my three recent grads that are out following their dreams and making their fortunes but I miss hectic.
