One time when we were in Riverside, CA we saw someone at a coffee shop that looked very similar to one of our favorite composers, Andy Akiho. It didnt make any sense that he would be in Riverside so we assumed it was not him. This Akiho look alike came to our show and introduced himself as Andy Akiho. He liked our performance and we talked about collaborating in the future. Its hard to get in touch with someone as busy as he is so it was a gift to bump into him. We have waited a painfully long time to let the news out, but now were so happy to announce that we received a chamber music america grant to commission a piano quintet from Andy, with Jenny Q Chai as the guest pianist. Yay our first grant!! And congrats to our great friends Living Earth Show for getting the grant as well.
