One week to go before the Audition SLAM! Industry people this Sunday 11 am till 1pm Some more thoughts... In any good performance theres always subtext. In a less successful audition your subtext is going to be stuck in a place of fear - like me, Im talented, please like me - I can act I - WANT THIS. In a successful audition youre going to be existing in a moment - youre going to be curious, searching for the truth, playful, invested, thinking on the line - which is hard, ah huh, but, wanting it so bad can be an obstacle as much as a help. Wanting it helps you rehearse, it drives you to work hard -- but sooner or later youve got to let go of the need to succeed and just want to get to the truth of the character. Really interesting actors are interested in the character and their situation. Theyre interested in what makes people act the way they do… and lots of other stuff too.
