Open letter to Benue Leaders, Dear Gov. Suswam, The Tor Tiv. HRH Dr (Chief) Alfred Akawe Torkula Senators Gemade, Akume, David Mark, Speaker, Benue State House of Aseembly, Tiv Prominent Sons and Daughters. I respectfully greet you all. I humbly wish to bring to your notice that Boko Haram Insurgency is fully in Benue State. Perhaps most of you are not in the state so may not be privy to the accurate situation on ground. Fulani herdsmen were just a precursor to what is happening now, a smokescreen to the hurricane sweeping across the state. Thousands are displaced, hundreds killed. Please Sirs, i have no other way to communicate with you hence this fora believing that somehow it will get to your eyes or ears. Kindly cause the transfers out of Benue of the Commandant of the Tactical Air Command Makurdi, and most importantly, the Commissioner of Police for Benue State. We are not comfortable with their roles in the current crisis. As a matter of urgency, kindly effect a meeting of all traditional rulers, at the lowest level up for discussions on the way forward. Boko Haram is in our midst and if we do not act fast, we will be overrun. Many of you may perhaps remember the jihad of Usman Dan Fodiyo to Islamise the Tiv and the stiffest resistance our fore fathers resisted. That jihad is nothing compared to what is happening now, the methods and arms used are sophisticated and capable of wholesale slaughter. We need help at home in various ways.
