Orji appeals to aspirants not to dump party Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has appealed to aspirants defeated in the House of Assembly primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state not to abandon the party, but to work with the winner to win the 2015 general elections. Speaking at the Umuahia Township Primary School, School Road, shortly after voting as a delegate in the primary to select a candidate for Umuahia Central State Constituency in the 2015 Abia State House of Assembly poll, Orji said that he had monitored the exercise in most parts of the 17 local government areas and described it as very successfully and encouraging. There are 24 seats in contention in the Abia State House of Assembly. Out of the 12 delegates comprised of nine elected and three statutory from the three wards that made up Umuahia Central State Constituency, Chinedum Orji scored 11 votes, with one voided, leaving the three other aspirants with no votes. The three statutory delegates included Governor Orji, the member representing the constituency Uche Akwukwuegbu and another. Orji said what had happened was an indication of what Nigerians would witness in 2015, adding that the peaceful conduct of the delegates was a source of encouragement that the electoral process had blossomed very well. dailyindependentnig/2014/11/orji-appeals-aspirants-not-dump-party/
