Our Thursday 30th Track of the Day is Mobb Deep - Quiet Storm. New York rappers Havoc and Prodigy, a.k.a Mobb Deep released the atmospheric Quiet Storm in 1999, for their fourth album, Murda Muzik. Cleverly sampling the bass line from Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Fives classictrack White Lines (Dont Do It), Quiet Storm is a dark, honest insight into life on the streets of New York. Havoc and Prodigys lyricism is on point as usual, but its the harrowing piano track accompanying the moody bassline which makes this a classic. It paints precisely the picture which the title suggests - a Quiet Storm. Its one to listen to in a dark room, or when the weather is shit. A track to vibe to and get lost in.
