Our beautiful Grade 2* listed church, dates from medieval times. The oldest parts are of Norman and Saxon origin, the south aisle dates from the 13th century and the tower was added in the 15th century. The survival of the building that we enjoy today owes much to the inhabitants of Shorne, from one generation to the next, being committed to its maintenance and preservation. We need to be part of that continuing line. The historical importance of our church has been recognised by English Heritage recently contributing a grant of £54,000 towards repairs of the south aisle roof and the tower, which in total is expected to cost £214,000. The detailed architectural work is being done during 2013, and the physical works will be carried out in 2014. If you would like to be part of the current generation supporting our church, please make a generous contribution to this project. There are Gift Aid envelopes available in the church to leave your cash or cheque donation in the collection plate, or post to Peter Moore or Ian Craig later (please write "roof" on the Gift Aid envelope, and make cheques payable to "Shorne PCC"). Or you can make a regular commitment by standing order from your bank account. There are forms available in the church or you can be sent one - please contact Peter Moore email pwmoore@btinternet or Ian Craig email [email protected]
