Over the weekend, Nepals Parliament began what could be final discussions to create two official mechanisms to investigate human rights abuses—including enforced disappearances—committed during the countrys decade-long civil war. In this episode of ICTJ Dispatch, we speak with ICTJs Eduardo Gonzalez, who has just returned from mission to Nepal. In the interview, he explains why this debate matters—not just for truth, but for justice: The question is always whether there is sufficient political willingness among policy makers in Nepal to comply with a truth commission that will ensure right to the truth that victims have, instead of a truth commission that is there to satisfy interests [...] related to impunity. Stay tuned for more updates from ICTJ as we follow these developments. ictj.org/multimedia/audio/ictj-dispatch-gonzalez-nepal
