POLYMENORRHEA RULES ARISING TOO FREQUENT INTERVALS (UNDER 24 DAYS). CAUSES Polymenorrhea is due to a shortening of the menstrual cycle in either the first phase (phase of maturation of the ovarian follicle), or the second phase (luteal phase, corresponding to the degeneration of the follicle into the corpus luteum transformed). The shortening of the ripening of the ovarian follicle is a hyperactivity, which can cause lack of ovulation. Shortening the life of the corpus luteum, more frequent, occurs mainly during puberty and during the perimenopause. During menstruation, this luteal insufficiency was observed during the polycystic ovary syndrome, in case of hyperprolactinemia (excessive prolactin) or when taking minipills.
