Brennan (Friday), Superintendent Manny Caulk (Friday), Slugger the Sea Dog (both days), Portland Fire Department (both days) • Activities and games with Cultivating Community, Let’s Go, Healthy Portland, UMaine Summer of Science Team, and more WHEN & WHERE Thursday, July 24th Friday, July 25th Deering Oaks Park Peppermint Park (near ravine splash pool) (Cumberland Ave, near Washington Ave) 11:30 – 12:30pm 12:00 – 12:50pm WHY More than sheer fun, the Portland Summer Success Picnics also highlight city-wide, summer-long efforts to reduce summer learning loss and child hunger by ensuring access to regular, healthy meals and active summer learning for all Portland children. The Portland Summer Success Picnics are one key piece of a larger set of strategies being pursued by the many partners of Portland ConnectED to build a coordinated community-wide system to support strong outcomes for children all summer long and all year long, from cradle to career. Portland ConnectED is a cross-sector, cradle-to-career partnership working together to improve educational and economic outcomes for children, families, and students of all ages throughout Portland.
