Paranoia (2013) Plot: Corporate espionage thriller starring Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford. Brooklyn-born Adam (Hemsworth) is a young employee of a large technological firm run by the demanding CEO Nicolas Wyatt (Oldman). When his idea for the next generation of mobile phones gets rejected, Adam loses his job and the only means of supporting his ailing father. Left with nothing, he seeks pity from Wyatt. Seeing an opportunity of outdoing his old mentor and head of a rival firm, Jock Goddard (Ford), Wyatt employs Adam to infiltrate the other corporation in order to steal their secrets. Adam reluctantly accepts, but will the stresses of living a double life become too much for him to handle? Review: This movie isnt anything amazing, but its good to see veteran actors like Gary Oldman & Harrison Ford on the screen together. The storyline is pretty average, about a teenage technical genius who has to go undercover to still some secrets from another company, but its nothing amazing. Its takes ages to get going and the guy who plays the lead hasnt got that much screen charisma. Once the movie does get going, its quite predictable and boring in parts. You do end up sticking with the movie to see were it goes, but the director didnt use the Oldman or Ford to there full capacity. In all, its watchable but nothing out of this world. Round-Up: Im quite surprised that Oldman and Ford agreed to do this movie because this isnt really in there class. The movie does touch a cord by showing how our security isnt really that secure with the use of cell phones and cameras, but the whole world is realising that with cases like the phones hacking scandal with the tabloids in the UK. Anyway, if the movie had someone else playing the lead, it could have been much better but as it stands, its not the type of film that you would watch time and time again. Judging by the money that the movie made, its obvious that the big names couldnt save the movie and it doesnt help that the director didnt do a good job with the concept. Budget: $35million Worldwide Gross: $14million I recommend this movie to people who are into there espionage movies about a teenager trying to get inside secrets from a big corporate company. 3/10
