Part Five - Choices At first glance, Im sure my photo seems a bit silly. One long sock and one short, no, I have plenty of both but Ive made a choice to wear them like this. Its a simple daily reminder that it begins and ends with me, only I walk in my shoes. Years back, not sure who but it was shared with me, dont let people rent space in your head for free, this goes for past experiences as well. Death, divorce, tragedy in general can and does get a grip on the mind that wont let go. When my actions are the result of an external force, I need to rethink why that is. Some things we cant control, like the speed limit. However, when you start thinking about it, the majority of the choices I make on a daily basis are mine. Only I walk in my shoes. I can learn from what others say and do, but in the end, only I walk in my shoes. The freedom, oh, the freedom when I began understanding this. I began evicting the squatters left and right, this included my dead son. Sounds harsh, but it had to be. His memories forever in my soul, my heart, but when they began controlling my life, I had to make a choice forward. My divorce, no different, people at work, no different, the list goes on and on. I made a choice to live my life, a long sock and a short sock, a simple reminder each and every day.
