Partial reps , an epic tool for further stimulation. For all the coaches who ramble on about full range of motion (me included) there is absolutely a place for partial reps. I like to implement them in a drop set fashion once the muscle had reached fatigue, rather than stopping the set performing X amount of partial reps. Only certain exercises lend themselves to this IMO. Leg extensions Side lateral raises Squats Bicep curls Calf raises Are a few. The reason is simple - occasionally it pays to take a muscle into new territories. New levels of stimulation, new muscle fibre populations and new levels of intensity can all be achieved. Food for thought.
