Working both within community settings beyond the health center walls as well as within over 40 health center locations across the greater Chicago area, ACCESS physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives and other providers work hand in hand with outreach staff, case managers, social workers and substance abuse counselors to offer integrated preventive care, chronic disease management, behavioral health and support services. ACCESS has close to 300 medical providers and 600,000 patient visits annually and we deliver over 3200 babies annually. POSITION SUMMARY The payroll specialist responsible for the full range of activities involved in the preparation/processing of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 950 employees including filing tax reports, processing voluntary and involuntary deductions, maintenance of payroll records and preparation and analysis of special reports. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation, review and distribution of bi-weekly payroll and maintenance of employee records. Oversee the processing of payroll check exceptions • Oversee the accurate electronic upload and/or data entry of timecards in the Kronos Workforce Timekeeper. Ensure that pay rates, allowances, benefits, sick pay etc., are correctly configured • Process wage assignments, garnishments and child support orders in compliance with federal and state laws • Prepare and review payroll related account reconciliations • Process quarterly unemployment taxes and coordinate with vendor regarding process of payroll taxes and year end W-2’s. • Conduct independent and in-depth payroll analyses. Put in place procedures to address any compliance and accuracy issues • Act as the interface with Finance, IT and outside Payroll vendor on Payroll planning, compliance and processing • Work closely with managers and employees regarding training on the timekeeping system and responding to inquiries regarding payroll and the payroll system POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Associates degree or equivalent experience. Prefer Bachelor’s Degree • Minimum 5 - 7 years experience in payroll administration • Experience with Kronos Workforce Timekeeper and Great Plains software is preferred • Extensive knowledge tax laws, forms and regulations • Excellent communication and customer service skills • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion in managing sensitive data • Member of American Payroll Association or CPP highly desirable • Strong proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Excel Access Community Health Network is an equal opportunity employer.
