People want flowers, fruit, and all kinds of foods, but they dont want the bees, which is just ignorant of them :( These African honeybees had been building a hive on the underside of a concrete drain cover. Someone had turned it upside down and they had been exposed to the cold and rain for at least 2 days and 2 nights. Still they clung faithfully to the honeycomb. Every year the bees appear at the same spot at the top of my road and as soon as they start to swarm, some kind soul takes it upon themself to kill them. I found a kind entomologist who would take the surviving bees away and keep them warm and dry until he can release them. The dogs and I sat with the bees trying to keep them a bit drier as the rain became more serious. The holes which served as an entry point to the cavity have been plugged with expanding foam. ~Hamba kahle, little African honeybees~
